IT ALL BEGAN WITH TWO INSPIRED WOMEN, A BOOK, AND TWO GARAGES.
In 1980, Nancy Chilson and her sister-in-law Nancy Hill teamed up to start a small business called Lasting Impressions Inc. It all began after reading the book "How To Print T-Shirts For Fun and Profit," by Scott Fresener. With inspiration and dreams of the possibilities, they jumped in with both feet and acquired the equipment necessary to get started. In the beginning it was more for fun than for profit, making custom garments for friends, local schools and sport teams out of their garages. However it didn't take long for word of mouth to spread, resulting in the need to expand their growing entity.
In 1986 a new work-shop was built on the property, which shortly doubled in size. A few years later the decision was made to open a storefront in Marysville, while continuing to operate production from their backyard shop. At the retail location, Lasting Impressions joined forces with another up-in-coming small business to provide embroidery services along with their screen printing. With the addition of embroidery, Lasting Impressions was now a one-stop shop for customers who wanted to utilize both decoration methods. Shortly after opening the retail location Hill and her husband decided to move to Alaska, selling her portion of the business to Nancy Chilson.
Today, Lasting Impressions has expanded from screen printing, embroidery, and promotional products to include laser engraving, digital printing and vinyl transfers. Supplying both local and national customers through three online Etsy shops. As members of the Teamsters Local 117 Lasting Impressions provides USA /Union Made apparel and products. Nancy Chilson's daughter, Karmin, now manages the business and has an excellent and creative staff.
