In 1980, Nancy Chilson and her sister-in-law Nancy Hill started Lasting Impressions Inc. after reading the book "How To Print T-Shirts For Fun and Profit" by Scott Fresener. Like many other new businesses, they began by working out of their garages to supply shirts for friends, local schools and sport teams. In the beginning it was more for fun than for profit, but through word of mouth Lasting Impressions soon outgrew their two garages.

This led to a new work-shop being built in their backyard in 1986, which shortly had to be doubled in size to accommodate their growing entity. In the early 90's Chilson and Hill took a huge step of faith and moved to a retail location in Marysville for more exposure, while keeping production in the backyard shop at home. At the retail location, Lasting Impressions decided to partner with another up-in-coming business to provide embroidery services along with their screen printing. Now Lasting Impressions could become a one-stop shop for their customers who wanted both embroidery and screen printing on their garments. A few years after opening the retail location in Marysville, Hill and her husband decided to move to Alaska, selling their half of the business to Chilson.

Today, the business has expanded from screen printing & embroidery to include promotional products and laser engraving, as well as three online Etsy shops. As members of the Teamsters Local 117 Lasting Impressions also provides USA made and Union Made apparel and products. Nancy Chilson's daughter, Karmin, now manages the business and has an excellent and creative staff ready to help.
